kindred clans
What are the diffrent clans?
There are a lot of different clans in the Masquerade universe, although this site should sum the most prominent up:
http://whitewolf.wikia.com/wiki/Clan_(VTM)
That said, considering Julian is a prince and it only seems to be the Camerilla that specifically deal with princes, the amount of clans you see in the series is probably pretty narrow.
The Camarilla consists of:
Ventrue
Gangrel
Brujah
Toreador
Malkavian (I once wrote a short story on Malkav btw!)
Tremere
Nosferatu
The Sabbat:
Tzimisce
Giovanni
Lasombra
Ravnos
Salubri
Independents:
Caitiff, a term for a Kindred without a clan fellowship
Assamite
Daughters of Cacophony
Kiasyd
Samedi
Followers of Set (they are actually Sabbat in the oldest versions of the core system).
I want to learn clans of characters in tv series , all characters seem to have Protean , its meaningless that way.
shareKindred Clans and disciplines info for the Vampirically challenged:)
Brujah: Potence, Celerity, Presence
Gangrel: Fortitude, Protean, Animalism
Malkavian: Dominate, Auspex, Obfuscate
Nosferatu: Obfuscate, Animalism, Potence
Toreador: Celerity, Presence, Auspex
Tremere: Thaumaturgy, Auspex, Dominate
Ventrue: Fortitute, Dominate, Presence
Assamite: Obfuscate, Celerity, Quietus
All Vampires from all Clans have the ability to learn other disciplines. These are the disciplines inherited from their clans. Hence Sascha getting more agressive. Brujah were scholars until the Ventrue burnt their city of Carthage.
Not only Protean but also Auspex. When the vampires looked into the ring to see the murder they were using Auspex level 3. Also the Nosferatu seem to posses Dominate.

Yeah, it's a bit silly to give it to everyone. In the game I know it's conceivable for older vampired to be "taught" a discipline by another vampire who knows it...if I remember though it's generally REALLY looked down upon (some more than others, the Tremere are fanatical protective of their blood magic) and it's a pretty tough process to get another vampire to trust you that much.

they had no claws."
I know that other characters can learn different disciplines, but I know that Gangrel are strong enough with Protean that they can turn into any animal form, while it's said that other vampires are limited to bats and wolves.
Also, not a big deal about the clan affiliations, but the Gangrel separated from the Camerilla in 1999 (literally JUST read this). The Gangrel Justicar was in a battle with what he claimed was an antideluvian, and when the Camerilla leaders refused to help him, the Gangrel left the Camerilla and became independent.
Once, I could not see beyond the veil of reality, to see those who dwell behind. I was once a fool
Half of what you listed aren't even clans, they're bloodlines.
shareDon't forget the
Salubri--they have not forgotten the Tremere Betrayal
Nahraja--Ok they are just sick
Old Clan Tzimisce--true vampires
True Bruhah--that time manipulation makes them very very formidable
I used to playtest for white wolf ;)
BTW if you are interested there are SEVERAL places that hold LARPS (Live action Role playing games) About Vampire the Masquerade. We have a group in seattle that does it every saturday. You may be able to find a group near you

Somewhat dated post to reply to, but it still technically hasn't been answered yet (lots of talk about the game, but if your familiar with both it's obvious there are differences).
5 clans in K:TE
Ventrue - Business men
Brujah - Mobsters
Gangrel - Seem to be all bikers
Toreador - Artists
Nosferatu - Ugly
Assamites also appear in one episode but since Archon refers to there only being 5 clans they don't address exactly what the Assamites would be considered in series cannon.

Kindred kind of wrote it's own rules. If you get super technical, the show may as well have been it's very own LARP with names and certain traits being the only similarities.
For example, in the game, aren't Gangrel and Brujah generally friends? In the show they hate each other so much that one of the central couples is tied in with Shakespere's most famous suicidal teens.
The Malkavians were teased at in one episode ("Night Stalker", I believe). I also recall reading about plans for season 2 involving the discovery that Kindred were in Ancient Egypt or something like that.
