Both are listed as "narrator" but throughout the series is seems to be only one voice. One gorgeous, sonorous, sensitive (and dare I say it) kind of sexy female voice not two.
I haven't heard Dench in a while, but i think the whole thing is Jens although I am familiar with almost none of her work.
Anyone?
I'm almost positive that Salome Jens is the narrator for the entire series. In fact, I can't recall which part that Judi Dench appears in, but I suspect it's as the reader of a diary of one of the female characters.
shareThe narrator depends on which version you see. In the US PBS release, it's Jens, In the UK it's Judi Dench. In The UK, the programme is called "1914-18" not "The Great War and the Shaping of the 20th Century", there are also differences in some graphics, and also editing differences. What other differences there are I do not know as I have only seen part of the BBC version.
shareI just wanted to say I agree about Salome Jens' voice. Very sexy. Not bad considering she was about 60 years old when she recorded it.
