Readers affecting European accents doesn't bother me. You?

I've read elsewhere, some viewers thought having British (or American?) actors read the letters and journals of German, etc., writers with an affected accent is distracting and diminishes the effect.

How having a German actor read a German letter in English is an improvement, escapes me.

I think the critics are being a little too critical.
