DVD ?

Any Update on whether a DVD will be issued?

Within the last month I sent an email to PBS asking that very question. Sadly, they told me there are currently no plans to release it on DVD. WWI is a period in history that fascinates me. I would love to have this series on DVD.

Sent an email to KCET in LA. They own the rights. Bombard them with emails. It's PBS shouldn't they listen to the public?

Have emailed and spoken by telephone. Very nice people, but "no plans to release on DVD" is what they said. THAT would be a great loss, not to release a SUPERB documentary on DVD. FREE MONEY for them! What could be the hold-up?

More than likely, PBS will have to pay for the right to issue the USA version of this documentary on DVD. Money is tight. Your best bet is if someone uploads a bit torrent copy of this WW1 series on an index site like Demonoid. That hasn't happened yet.

I read about this show being more comprenhensive than 'world war I in color', so too bad if they don't release it.. But, maybe they also fear a lack of demand and therefor too few dvds sold?

Here's to hoping, though.

The series can be downloaded on ThePirateBay (and probably other torrent sites). It's an excellent copy, recorded to DVD from an airing on the BBC in 2008.

There was a set of 4 DVDRs issued in 1998 by KCET/PBS thru Warner Bros for educational use. I found the set on Ebay.
