Who killed Timmy?

I always thought it was Dugan.

The mayor's assistant?

reply

He was the former crime boss, he was always talking to the mayor as the mayor was in his pocket.

I also thought Geary (Quinn's boss) was connected.

Timmy got into the car because someone was in there who Timmy would trust. So a Cop.

Dugan got the Gun to Mickey's Dad, so the Cop was working for Dugan. Timmy was killed for asking questions about the Fishing Gang in the Picture.

So that makes it one of 3 people. Geary, Quinn's Father's Partner, or some other Cop in the Photo who would have gotten screen time later. (Though Quinn's mom said most of these people are dead, so there might not be any cops left alive in that pic.)

Geary was doing Dugan's buisness in going after Murtha, but through Proxy through the Mayor. If Dugan had Geary working for him, he would not have needed to get the Mayor to get a team on Murtha. Also being in the Fishing Photo, Timmy would not have trusted Geary. I don't think Geary did it.

Quinn's Father's Partner is a good match. He's not in the photo, (he took it) so Timmy wouldn't know not to trust him. As he was the partner of someone in the pic, he looks to be a good person to ask questions of, so Timmy would want to talk to him. He did turn Quinn onto Geary. The question becomes, would he also have killed Quinn's father?

I am going to guess that Quinn's father was killed by Dugan's personal muscle, or possibly the cop who was killed by Frenchy in Quinn's apartment. (Or his partner.) Who also make good suspects for Timmy too. Doing the killing(s) for Dugan with out a clear reason why. So they are good for it, but do not make for a good plot twist...

So I must say Quinn's Father's Partner.

(I watched the show back in '97. Missed one episode because of a local Basketball game and then they didn't air the last episode. I just watched them off Sleuth with my Tivo. It was great to see them again. I hope they all come out on DVD in a set.)

While it may well have been a cop who killed Tim, we don't know for sure that he got into the car voluntarily or was forced in. A large truck barrelled past when Tim was arguing with the car occupant, and when the truck had cleared Cam's line of vision, Tim was already in the car.

BTW, three of the episodes were released on DVD by the "Brilliant But Cancelled" folks. I think I'm waiting until I can get the ENTIRE series.

Whao...

Those are some good theories. I figure Dugan had to be behind it somehow. I knew it wasn't Murtha from the episode where he was arrested for trying to kill Dogface and he told his lawyer that he didn't shoot Quinn's partner.

I too watched this show when it originally aired in 1996-97. In 2001 I managed to get my hands of screener copies (I had been watching bootlegs) of all but 2 episodes (and they actually ran longer than the regular episodes. I think mostly cut for time). I also have many promotional items released (over 30 photos!) as well as copies of most of the show scripts as well as copies of 2 unfilmed episodes and reviews and articles about the show. I want to make a web-site but my web skills are limited.

Are you the person who offers the package on eBay (episodes and scropts)? I already have all of the episodes, but would love to get my hands on those scripts!

A DVD season set MUST be released some day. ;o)

reply

No, I'm not. I bought my copies of the unproduced episodes from them though. I have original shooting scripts, not copies of 4 of the aired episodes.

ARH I've sent you a private message/

WOW! These are great theories! So glad to see that people still care about this show.

A couple of years ago, I was riding an elevator in some building somewhere, and when the doors opened on one floor, there was a guy standing there wearing a cap with the EZ Streets logo on the front and, I think, "Season 2" on the side.
I almost choked on my tongue when I gasped, "Oh. My. GAWD! Did you work on EZ Streets? That was the best show ever!"
"Meh. I wouldn't know. Somebody gave me this hat."
I wanted to cry.
Would've tried to buy the hat off of him, but he'd gotten quite a lot of wear out of it.

Paul Haggis says that not a day goes by that someone doesn't ask him about the show so I think that plenty of people still care. And even the lowest rated shows are watched by millions of people.

I re-watched the pilot last night. I don't think Quinn's father's partner killed Timmy. The person was really skinny and the actor who played him, Eddie Jones, is and was a big guy.

I also noticed that in the infamous scene where Dugan sticks the rusty nail through th mayor's palm he tells the mayor to "reach out" to his police force to bring down Murtha. I can only take that to mean that's why the special task force was set up to do just that.

There's a connection to Dugan though, because Jimmy told Theresa after he'd been arrested "I didn't shoot the cop" after she was talking to him about using the gun on Leo. He DID get the gun from Mickey (when I watched the show for a second time I watched closely for that) and Mickey got it from his dad who got it from Dugan.
