Wow, you're very attentive. I was just going to post the entry for this week's episode but you beat me it. I'd better shape up next time. Thanks. Anyway, just as a suggestion, the summaries I have been finding for Dark Skies are just too detailed, so I've been editing them not to give away too much information, otherwise they tell a bit too much.

reply

Yeah I thought maybe you were out of town or something had come up. You are usually very prompt. Sorry about the summary I was in a hurry today. Glad to see your good.

No, i wasn't abducted, but thanks for the concern. These last few days have been really crazy for me. You know, sometimes I think one of us could, you know, like, die, and then the messages would simply stop from that person. How morbid is that? I guess I'll set in my will the task for someone to tell what happened to everyone I only know online. OK, I digress.

Har, har. This episode is aptly named after my omission...

Well alright. Finally an episode I liked. To me it's the best episode of the show so far.

We get to see 7 of 9 and man she seems spring loaded in the pissed off position.
She kicks our boy loengard in the balls and then steals his towel.

Then we move on to the Warren commision. The writers have put all people into play, earl warren, Gerald Ford, Stormin Norman, Marylin Monroe, J edgar and clyde the whole shabang.

Bach was at his best when dealing with the commision and easily dismissed all barbs thrown his way. The man never broke a sweat.

Bobby K grows a set and attacks MJ12 and just when you think he is going to win the jackpot....Bam, his own indiscretions get in the way. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black, John should have looked at Kennedy and said....I wish you would have told me about that Marilyn Monroe thing before we did this.

All in all the best one yet, I'll give this one 9 stolen bath towels on the DS scale.

Well, that was definitely something. It was a good, but irregular episode. No more touchy-feely stories about characters we don't know or don't care (except 7 of 9's "touchy feely" connection with Loengard minus a conveniently misplaced towel - and she has experience dealing with the Borg collective, so the Hive collective should be a piece of cake).

Anyway, this time the main players were characters whose development we've been following, so their stories sounded much more real. Ironically, Loengard's best scene yet was in Bach's bogus story about how they had met "at gun point." I want more of crazy/hobo/schizo Loengard! It's a pity that won't happen again and that it lasted so little.

This was all a great turning point, I presume. Bach comes out victorious, and Loengard, discredit. And they are going to unseal his records only in 1999... Wait, that has happened already! Oh, well, in that universe probably by 1999 the Hive would probably be all over the place and there would be nothing new in his statements. Also Kennedy is through, and so is his "special" relationship with Loengard and Sayers. And with the introduction of Juliet Stewart, who is here to stay, by the way, it seems that the show is bound to take a whole new direction.

The show has always been about conspiracies and cover-ups in its core, so that's where it works at its best. As charmed pointed out before me, Bach didn't break a sweat during his testimony, and he made it all seem so plausible. It's interesting how he mixed truths, half-truths and total fabrications to concoct his version of the truth. And where his lies didn't work, there's always blackmail.

But that didn't mean the episode didn't have its share of problems. The dreaded clip show is the first that comes to mind. There used to be a time when TV shows always had a clip-show episode, and all those scenes from old episodes with Loengard laboriously retelling everything that we already knew was tiresome. that was obviously made for the sake of new viewers the showrunners were hoping to catch in the middle of the season right before the show's revamp.

Bach's motivations are also murky. OK, I get that knowledge is power and the only way for majestic to remain relevant is if only they know the truth, otherwise why would they even exist? But at least he should pay lip service to some greater, nobler cause, like, "if regular people know the truth, panic will destroy our society. The world as we know it will end!" Something. Instead, there's just a big conspiracy because, well, that's what secret government organizations do.

Besides, even if Bach is so vain and his better days are past him (honestly, he hasn't looked a day older since 1947...) what would justify the actions of patriots like Schwarzkopf? Mixing real and fictional characters is a tricky thing. I wonder what the Kennedys think when they see members of their family exposed like the on TV for the sake of entertainment. And why is it that people on Tv always choose to have embarrassing and illicit sexual encounters right in front of windows facing outside?

The raid on the Majestic headquarters seemed, well, like a raid on a TV set, since they found nothing, zero, zilch there. And are you going to convince me it was all Kim's idea for Kennedy use his powers as Attorney General and gather an FBI task force to raid on a government facility, just because she had a hunch? is she going to make national strategic decisions now? At least she warned Kennedy; "it's going to be dangerous."

Anyway, this time we pay a tribute to the power of the blondes. Marilyn, and her sexual escapades and irresistible charm that caught both Kennedy brothers as poor womanizing victims they were, of course. (By the way, wasn't Ted old enough at that time to have a piece of the action too?) And Juliet for her kick-ass moves that put a wimpy Loengard in his place.

This episode gets 8 badass blonde vixens!

You know Madp, I never even thought of that. Is this episode an attempt to retool the show? were the ratings so bad that they decided to try something else or least alter the way the show was going? 7 of 9 was pretty awesome in her role and if she is indeed going to stick around, it could be the beginning of some decent episodes the last few weeks.

Well, you did list Jeri Ryan as one of the show's stars, right? At least that's in the credits list. Anyway, we can be reasonably certain Kennedy is out, and Loengard's credibility is destroyed. Let's see how all that plays out.

Checking in a bit late. (Had a houseful of guests who just checked out!)

Yes! This was much better. I don't mind telling you that I was dreading this one, because if it were another clinker, I was about ready to call a shark jump. I almost called a "sighting" last week. But now, it seems, we're back to the mother of all conspiracies, the way it should be.

You guys covered it pretty well. Bach did a great job at subverting the truth and getting away with perjury, but that's what great bad guys do. This is the first major part I think I've ever seen J. T. Walsh play, and I think I miss him already.

I liked how John finessed his way out of the perjury charge. (Put me on a trial that's guaranteed to be covered in detail on the news every night so I can spill my guts about Majestic? Bring it on!)

This definitely was the "clip show", and I agree it's part of an attempt to reboot the series after the past few misguided episodes. I hope they get back on track; there's too much potential here to waste.

I have to say I'm leery about 7 Of 9 showing up. (Or "36 Of DD" as someone called her in another thread.) She seemed too superhuman and her costumes were not "era appropriate". I'm afraid she might really be here just to draw in the "36 Of DD" fanbase. In that case, the shark better start limbering up.

But I refuse to get pessimistic! Overall, this episode was a good change in a good direction, so I'll continue to hope for better things next week. (When I'll be late again--got another out of town wedding next weekend.)

This Friday on “Dark Skies” ep 13: “The Warren Omission'

Not sure what day this is having a few days off this Memorial Day weekend. One more night to stay up late and check out late night TV. This episode was a mid season refresher of what has happened so far. I must admit I had forgotten almost everything.

Stone are you taking over I was surprised to see your name? Or is it just a conspiracy.

The Warren Omission was O.K. as always I love the name dropping MM was a nice touch more or less brought Bobby to his knees. Women can do that, they have all the power. So Hover was gay is that true didn’t know that. No one has John and Kim’s back their on their own now. But they got a better car with an envelope of money. Kim didn't hesitate to keep the money.

If the rest of them are at least as good as this one I can make it through.

Was Hoover gay? I'm not sure anybody really knows. Opinions I've seen range from "everybody knows he was" to "very unlikely".

But, of course, there's no absolute proof of RFK+MM either. If only that film really existed. Maybe that'll be unsealed with John's testimony in 1999.

Oops.
