Where to next?

Where to next?

I was thinking that perhaps we didn't give Dark skies a fair chance and I hear this kind of show gets even better the second time we watch it, so we could go through all the episodes again, just to make sure we don't like it... Or we could move on.

Anyway, in the extremely unlikely chance that someone new has started seeing these posts just now, we're a jolly group of people who likes to watch old TV shows and commenting on them. We've just finished Dark Skies, but you can join in now, and you can participate by helping us choosing the next one.

That being said, all those who wish to continue on to a new show list 2 shows you would like to do next. The guidelines are pretty simple.

I. It should be a one-season show. Special cases outside this rule can be discussed in case an exception should be made.

II. Availability is a tricky little thing. I assume our American friends would prefer it it to be available on Netflix, though that's not entirely necessary, since others may get it from different sources. The important thing is that we try to find a show that is available to everyone.

III. Just as promised when we elected Dark Skies, the other shows that were voted but lost would be remembered in case you want to give them another shot this time. As you may recall, in the last voting we had an exciting TRIPLE TIE, but then Dark Skies won after the customary judge bribes. And the other shows that were best voted were, in this order,

1- Dark Skies
1- The Middleman
1- Brimstone

4- Caprica
5- Nowhere Man
6- 11th Hour

IV. Suggestions to enter the voting process are limited to two, but feel free to mention other one-season shows that you think might get us interested. Maybe there's an old show you're thinking about that other people are thinking about too, so it may save some work if we're all thinking of the same other shows. Those mentions will be remembered later.

4. Suggestions are open and will close on Sunday, February 21st at 10 P.M. That's my 10 P.M, which should be 6 P.M. on your West Coast. Voting will take place from Monday 22nd to Thursday 25th. The winner will be announced Friday 26th. There will be one week off for members to obtain the show and then the following Friday (August 2nd) we will start.

4. We ask once something is finally chosen do your best to go with it even if it isn't entirely your cup of tea, or your dark piece of sky, or even if you feel it's no better than a cheap monkey statue made of second-rate metal. After all, it's only one season and we have always been able to come to a consensus.

That's it. We have always managed to find something good about every show we have chosen and as hard as it is to believe, some of us have been doing this since January 07.

British version of the eleventh hour if available to us all. One thing about the british shows there's not many of them.

Come on, just ONE suggestion so far? Where are you, guys?

Well, well. Drama or comedy? Time to decide. Since I lean more towards drama, I'll let Dramatic Cat convince you.

Anyway... Here are my two official suggestions for later voting. You've heard of them before.

- Brimstone (1999) - 13 episodes
- Total Recall 2070 (1999) - 22 episodes

Other suggestions (for future references)

- Äkta Människor (Real Humans) (2012) - 10 episodes - The social issues of humans and robots living together, with some robots trying to find freedom. I've seen it and was really impressed, but I believe this would be a real hassle to get. It's a Swedish production, so probably not easily available. Besides, you'd need subtitles, unless you speak Swedish... But it's very good.

- The Prisoner (2009) - 6 episodes - This would be great to decide whether you'd want to watch the 1967 version, just to compare. It's extra short anyway...

- Invasion (2006) - 22 episodes - A theme we know quite well, that's true, but with great character development, and you may actually root for the pod people.

- Max Headroom (1987) - 14 episodes - The 1980's wouldn't be complete without him...

One-third of us were in Kansas City on an impromptu trip to put out a fire for a customer. My return flight touched down just in time to avoid a severe thunderstorm that knocked out the power in my neighborhood. But I'm back in time to put in my two cents. Or two series.

Awake (2012) - A detective, his wife and son are in a severe auto accident. He awakes--maybe--to find that his wife survived, but their son was killed. But the next day--maybe--he awakes to find that it was his son who survived and his wife that was killed. His life alternates between the two realities, and he can't determine which is real and which is a dream. Or maybe both are real. Or maybe neither. And then they start to crossover each other. I've watched only the first episode, but it was terrific. (13 episodes, available at least on Netflix and Amazon.)

The Prisoner (1967) - (Also known as "That Weird Show", so dubbed by my dad.) We all know about this one. I watched some of it in syndication in the early '70s, but have never seen the whole thing. Maybe--just maybe--we can make some sense of that final episode. And if we're ever going to watch the newer version, we should first do the classic one. (16 episodes, available at least on Amazon and Crackle.)

1 Eleventh Hour
2 Outcast

Both are British shows.

Though this show doesn't meet our needs. Season one was very interesting.
"Continuum" good time travel show. Worth watching

Agent Stone is in Oklahoma on a mission but should return later today.

There are four shows with the words "Eleventh Hour." (In fact, three are "THE Eleventh Hour," and one, from CBS, is simply "Eleventh Hour.") Please SPECIFY the show, especially the YEAR of production. Because of this multiplicity of results I predict it'll be a hassle to find the correct one online.

Also, I've found "Outcasts" and "The Outcasts", but no "Outcast".
