A few questions

Firstly, I remember watching a scene where at least one ship is shot down. Now my memory isn't quite clear here and I'm sure there's a term for it when you inadvertently inject false images into your memory! Anyway, some reason I have an image of some military men with shoulder mounted or hand-held machineguns (?) firing at alien craft(s). I certainly remember one being shot down.

Secondly, the Grey aliens were actually victims of these parasites. Did any of the Greys actually manage to survive and fight against these parasites?

Thanks.

If impersonating a Police Officer is an offence, shouldn't actors be imprisoned?

Shameless bump.

Your memory's pretty perfect. This is from Moving Targets, in which Jesse Marcel and Frank Bach tell John what really happened in July 1947.

In short, the aliens (Hive-controlled Grays) demanded an unconditional surrender, a youthful Bach called their bluff, and the military then shot down the alien ship. Bach's successful gambit got him the job of running MJ12.

There's one Gray that survives in the series, starting from Shades of Gray. In that episode MJ12 surgically removes the ganglion, and the alien then heals itself. They had to throw that ability in there, because they'd gone out of their way to establish how in humans, cerebral eviction just flat-out kills the host.

There was also a season two outline around in the '90s that talked about other surviving Grays. They'd escaped their Hive-run home planet, lived underground, and would have teamed up with John and Juliet. At this point the writers were trying everything to sell a second season to Sony, including transporting John and Juliet into modern times and just doing the period stuff in flashback. There's a trailer for that on the DVD.

The season two outline was kind of trippy. It didn't feel much like the Dark Skies we knew and loved, so I'm pretty relieved that none of it saw the light of day. But I think it's a safe bet that friendly Grays were always planned to turn up and join the fight, somewhere along the line.

Excellent . Thank you for answering my question. Apologies for not getting back sooner. Do you remember what weapons they used to shoot down the saucers?
