shareI didn't like it. there were some good episodes towards the middle but over all I thought it was pretty bad. Yes it was cancelled after one season.

Not really and yes.
Our group has watched it and the general impression was not very good. It had its up and downs, more downs than ups. But if you like the alien abduction mythology, you might enjoy a few episodes because that theme is explored over and over again. And if you'd like to know more of what we thought of the show, there are comments discussing each episode in this forum.
I'm a bit late replying, but for anyone else wondering...
I personally liked it, but I was about ten when it came out and hadn't seen anything else like it. I found it a little bit complicated at times.
I liked it for the most part, even if its TV special effects have aged a bit badly, plus it was going to be a victim of comparison to The X-Files juggernaut and didn't have the humour of the contemporary series, Stargate SG-1. Its main strengths was the cast and period settings.
