Finally started watching this show on dvd. It's so ahead of its time. It makes sense why stupid executives with no creativity would cut it from ABC. They just didn't get its humor. Just look at some of the cast that are HUGE stars now. ABC executives were idiots then, and I'm sure they still are now. It' sucks that people with no creativity can call the shots like that...oh well.
shareI saw it during its initial run, in a great time slot after ROSEANNE, and I said to myself: it'll never last -- it's just too damned funny, and primetime TV won't permit that.
And it was, indeed, screamingly funny.
Its ratings were never the disappointment they claimed in order to justify their concelling it (and replacing it with yet another lame, safe sitcom).
