Peter Benchley...on tv.......

Not sure what they were thinking, but this mini-series was just mediocre. It had no suspense, no tension and no originality. The first half of the mini-series, was a tad better, but William Peterson was the only thing worth watching. He brought acting chops and legitimacy to this low budget affair, but it just wasn't enough.

The second half was just padding and poor special effects. Man that CG squid and the horrible blue screen work was awful!

The acting by most of the cast, especially Peterson's annoying daughter, was laughable. She knew this dude for a minute, he died, she's ready to be sent to Bellevue!! I also agree with another poster, her slutty friend should have met a grisly end!

Oh, and don't get me started when they ripped off Gorgo. I rolled my eyes. Does a squid actually have maternal feelings once her eggs hatch? Squid are known to be cannibalistic, not June Cleaver.

Another adaption of Benchley's White Shark, filmed as Creature, was slightly better. It had better acting, an awesome and realistic monster, and it actually had some scares and gore. Though they're few and far between.

Both of these movies should be remade for the big screen. Although they should really stick to some of the novel for the White Shark adaption.
