Disappearing Cast? Help me pretty please!!

I must say that I love this show but I think the writers did a horrible injustice to the fans for not explaining what happened to all the cast! I understand that Eamond died and that is so sad because he was brilliant! They should have given him a proper send off, I know they were still dealing with Ambrose's death but Eamond deserved a better send-off. They should have said the character died and given it the proper respect. It woul dhave made sense why Danny took over the farm.

My other beef is that Danny, Emma, Orla and Aidan all disappear! I get that Emma might have moved with her father but I just don't know if I saw that happening. I mean she was already going to school near Ballyk so I doubt she would move. What about Danny? Are we to believe that he just doesn't come into the city anymore and becomes a hermit on the farm? Do we know that he even keeps the farm? Maybe he sold it to go with Emma to London?

I kinda can get the Aidan Orla one because if Aidan leaves it would make sense for Orla. My question is were they planning on ending Ballykissangel after series 5? It seems like it would have been a proper ending for the show. A happy family in Fitsgeralds, Niamh and Dillon get married, Danny owns the farm and he and Emma are happy. I don't know does anyone agree with me on this? Or does anyone know anything I don't?

Also just a little side note....I really feel like they should have done more with the Danny Emma characters. In series 4 they were all sweet and getting to know eachother. I felt like I hardly saw them together in series 5. They seemed more like friends than boyfriend girlfriend. I mean they quick kiss after the funeral and then a good snog in With A Song In My Heart. I wanted MORE!!!

Yes, I agree-I never like a show to just drop a cast member without sometype of explaination or filling in the holes. What about the regular characters never having brothers or sisters? Seems highly unlikely for the time doesn't it? In one episode Sibohn's niece is visiting but we never heard about a sister earlier. Seems like each character could have had more depth to them. Don't get me wrong - I loved this show and own all the DVD's. Just don't know how the whole town could be of only children.

Indeed, esp. in a Catholic country that historically condemned the use of birth control (and made it difficult to obtain).

There was a two year gap between series five and six. The show had actually been cancelled after series five, and it was only after failed attempts at replacement and increasing public demand that it was brought back.

Unfortunately, many viewers felt its best years were behind it, and it didn't get the ratings BBC wanted. Also, several of the older cast members had died in the interim, and several others had moved on or simply hadn't time in their schedules to return. Having to replace a large chunk of the cast didn't help the show.

The producers did drop the ball in not giving Birdie Sweeney a proper send off (although his last episode was dedicated to his memory), and when Kieran Prendiville returned for series six, he made sure to give Tony Doyle a fitting tribute.

My PBS station has been showing the series in order, now the last episode they aired had Niamh and Sean Dillon get married.

Tonight the episode says a new priest arrives from Australia????? It sounds like Aidan just disappears?

I love the show, but characters seem to drop off the face of the earth.

The first 4 seasons are great. The 5th, is OK. But stay away from the 6th season! Don't watch it. Leave your memories to the first 5. The last season is terrible, there are many missing cast members, and it lacks everything that made the show worthwhile.

There are only 8 episodes in season 6 for a reason. It was not Ballykissangel anymore.

It looks like my PBS station is now in Season 6...LOL

The episode tonight is "Drink". Siobhan has a niece, and the new mechanic who showed up last week with not much explanation almost crashed trucks with Liam.

Unless my station is not showing them in the right order(last week Quigley was missing) there seems to be unexplained gaps.

Not clear on what happened to Adian.

I guess the gap in filming caused some of the cast to take other acting jobs.

I agree. They couldn't get the cast from the last season and it had no depth like the original. A sad way to end a great series.

I agree with you 100% moviefreak_86! I feel as though the writers did not give the fans or the characters the respect they all deserved with all of the character disappearing acts. Poor form :-\

Agreed 100% Season 6 was not Ballykissangel.
