Good Ideas for a DVD...??
I know all of you are probably waiting for an official release of the show... on either DVD, or Bluray... but I'm not picky, I'll take mine even on DVD! But we don't want a crappy version of the dvd, do we? You know like some crappy digital transfer that they don't even bother to enhance contrast, those transfers in which you can barely listen to the audio... crappy dvd menus, and not even an option to turn on/off caption.
It would be sort of disappointing to get a Season 1 set with cheap packaging, with the regular black dvd thick cases that comes with either one printed slip listing the 4 episodes on the dvd, or even WORSE!! Random ads offering another product!

I know the show was a big success internationally, especially on the Spanish, Portuguese, and I think even on the German market, so I thought it would be an awesome idea if some of the special features on the dvd are language tracks. I know that listening Meredith playing Shirley is awesome, but I grew up watching the Spanish dubbed (as much as I hate only-dubbed material) - it would just bring memories to me.
Even a Captioning option would be very welcomed, not even asking for subtitles, but it would be nifty. As well as some importance to the packaging, I'm not asking for a top-notch packaging design with special printing or anything. However, slim clear-color cases with a nice print for covers should be very welcome, for practicality and space saving!
Those would be my basic needs. Asides from decent audio/video quality, of course!
Other nifty extras would be a "Where are they now?" Feature, or commentaries by the writers or actors on different episodes. LOL' Like comments on Ryan Gosling's appearance in the pilot of the show and such. Or getting a comment by Ryan saying "OMG, I cannot believe the way I looked back then" haha, I know that'd be hard to achieve, but it would be great. Anyway, one can dream... right?
And if YTV doesn't plan to release this, maybe we can all begin a Collective DVD project??? Someone could capture the video, we could fansub it, sync it, and post the DVD files on torrents? So anyone could burn their own dvds without paying? And I could probably get the Spanish audio track (for S1-3), so just need someone that could get the Spanish audio track for S4, and we could get a dual audio Shirley DVD.
