Did she ask to be killed? I thought she just asked to get shot in the foot?
Yes, but when he points the gun towards her and levels it at her face, she smiles at him, giving him the okay. Also, at this point in the movie, she has to have realized that she's not going to get home. The shot in the foot is a half-hearted last resort and she knows it isn't going to work anyway. He didn't shoot her abruptly either. She could have said "no" or looked scared or upset, but she accepted her impending death.
shareI agree. At first I thought she just meant the foot (the angle of the gun) then for some reason (maybe the look in her eyes) he decided to end her suffering!....not really sure why they resorted to this desperate measure though.

I think Lao Jin aimed for the scarf. He obviously had her head in his rifle site, but in her bath/grave, her face/head were undamaged. It looked like there was a darker red splotch on her scarf.
