In Part I of this movie, Jing-Jing seems to be the apprentice of Spider Woman, and Spider Woman appears to own the cave. In Part II, Zixia is the one who owns the cave, and Jing-Jing shows up to be *her* apprentice. So who really owns the cave, and who is really Jing-Jing's master? If Zixia is really Jing-Jing's master, then what is the relationship between Jing-Jing and Spider Woman? They seem to know each other too well to have just met at the beginning of Part I. I know the subtitles refer to them as 'sisters' but are they really? After all, Joker calls just about everybody his 'bro'. Also, why isn't Zixia still living in the cave in Part I?

Is the end of Part II showing that, eventually, Joker and Zixia get together? If so, that means that Monkey King will become Joker again sometime in his future. At the end of Part II, Monkey King and crew appear to be in present day, and yet the Journey to the West was never completed. So somehow, Monkey King will need to get back to the past, (and without Pandora's Box, which has been destroyed), complete the Journey to the West, turn back into Joker, travel to the future to meet and fall in love with Zixia, and then finally get to be with her (after a little help from himself, as Monkey King, in his own past, while he was time traveling). A Part III showing all of these events would really be cool.

Jing Jing and Spiderwoman are both disciples/apprentices of Zixia. They are "sisters" in the sense they have the same master. A relationship that can be as close as blood sisters. When translated you think it's "sister", but it ain't. Just the subtleties of Chinese language can't be translated accurately and succinctly.

Spiderwoman is the elder "sister", so Jing Jing defers to her.

Same reason Joker calls everybody "bro". Translation issue. Does not mean blood brother, just close male friend.

In second movie it shows Jing Jing and Spiderwoman already have some animosity between them before Zixia becomes their master, reason not explained.

They could be blood sisters, but didn't catch anything that said they are. Considering one is a spider demon and the other is something else, probably not.

Dude, you are all over the place.
First of all, Zixia owns the cave. Zixia is the master of both Jing Jing and the Spider lady; thus, making them “sisters” in a sense that they both learn from the same master. Why do Chinese people do this? Because the Chinese culture puts a lot of emphasis on relationships such as this. The subtitles can be confusing because in Chinese, “she jie” and “she mei” refers to two girls who both learn from the same master, but the English language has no such translation, so the best description would be just “sister,” but no, they are not actual sisters. “Bros” on the other hand, has a similar English translation because in both the Chinese and English language, guys often refer to their friends as bros. Second, Zixia is not living in the cave in part one because she is probably dead. She lived 500 years ago, and that’s why she’s not in the first one. The first movie takes place 500 years after the second one (remember: Joker travels back in time through the box and accidentally goes back 500 years too far).

Now the ending can be confusing. But this is what happens: Remember in Buddhism that people are reincarnated after they die. Well, after Joker killed the Bull King and everyone went in the Pandora’s Box, they traveled forward in time 500 years; thus, going back to where the first movie takes place. But since the Monkey King killed the Bull King instead of marrying his sister and offering Longevity Monk as a wedding gift, he changed history. This time around, several things are different: first, Longevity Monk is no longer that annoying fly who talks too much, second, Piggy and Sandy are getting along well, third, there are no more demons anymore, and lastly, all the characters seen in the movie are now living a new, reincarnated life. This includes Zixia, who died 500 years ago, and Joker also, because he was killed by that Spider Lady before his transformation into the Monkey King (note: Joker is reincarnated because his mortal body died. The Monkey King is not mortal and thus does not count as a reincarnation; this applies to Sandy and Piggy too, if you were careful to notice their mortal reincarnation during the end of the movie.) Anyway, the Monkey King and the gang do not need to go back to the past because they can still complete the journey, even if they ARE 500 years behind schedule. The monkey king will not become Joker again because he has to take on the responsibility of escorting Longevity Monk to get the scriptures. Joker is a new person who is going to live his own life. So in a sense, you have two Jokers walking around, but there is a difference as I mentioned above that the Monkey King is an immortal and Joker is just simply human. If you’re confused about the ending between Joker and Zixia, then check the thread for “the ending,” I did a pretty thorough explanation there that I don’t want to do again here.
