Please explain to me, Joker's Feeling towards ZiXia [spoiler]

When Joker read the letter from Jing-Jing, that ZiXia left tear in his heart. Isn't that he feels her pain, so he actually feels sorry for her, not love her. I'm got confusing on this one, because of crappy english subtitles [It's rate 10/10 on subscene, but the word "He" or "Him" refers to woman ????? and there's a little missub, and little but annoying no-sub scene.]

From the fact that Joker spelled ZiXia more times than Jing-Jing, I believed he's unconsciously fell for her. Unconscious minds always win towards conscious mind.

Could someone please explain to me, the transition how joker unconsciously fell in love with ZiXia ?

It's poorly done but basically Joker/Monkey King was fated to fall in love with ZiXia and had fallen in love with her to begin with and his longing for her was pretty much the catalyst of the whole two movies.

Only his poor life choices led to Jing Jing so in an ironic sort of twist, Jing Jing was the rebound girl even though in the first movie, Joker was painted as the reincarnated rebound guy.

It was only because Joker/Monkey King would not have chosen to go back and recover his memory and relearn his mistakes if not for Jing Jing's death that he was never reintroduced to ZiXia until he used the Pandora's Box. However if Joker had simply recovered his memory then and not desired to go back to Jing Jing, Joker would not have learned his lesson and be put into a perspective where he would reject ZiXia.

Basically the entire lesson of the story (if there was one) is that the Monkey King by his stubborness had chosen the path of most suffering. The route he took basically meant that the woman in terms of ranking he least loved would in turn show him to the way to the woman he loved above her and the cycle would continue until the second woman he most loved would spell it out to him that he did not treasure the women he loved the most and in a sort of circular cycle, Jing Jing found that out because Joker's heart who yearns for ZiXia had yearned towards Jing Jing which in turn made ZiXia cry which in turn is what hinted to Jing Jing that Joker loved ZiXia more without anyone really being told why one person loved the other except for the subconscious honesty of Joker's heart.

In the end though, the most important key was that the woman the Monkey King loved most would be the one to have made the Monkey King be the hero which is sort of unfortunate as there was no way to do that until it was too late to save her life and the Monkey King sort of have himself to blame both for playing with people's hearts and also for rejecting an important quest by using a woman he didn't love just to sacrifice the Longevity Monk. It's sort of like paying for all your karma in one life instead of multiple lives so the result was that Joker had to fall in love with several people and then suffer because of them but at least instead of living with tears of sorrow, he sort of saw his loved one ZiXia die while being happy.

Good analysis! I just finished the movie just now, and I think you've managed to make me even more confused! But still, very good analysis.

wow having seen the film more than 10 times i must say you were spot on, if i read it correctly the tussle between fate/destiny (zixia) over free will to love (jing jing) and the whole karmic consequence to everything.

personally i would normally deem such a message anachronistic and fatalistic to think everything that is to come has already been written. but i suppose it's a period film so it wouldn't be that bad...

wow, you really know a movie is a masterpiece when you have to watch it several times to really catch the whole meaning behind it. The ending left you satisfied and unsatisfied at the same time, it's the perfect way to end a movie with all the characters achieved somewhat their main goals. However, it makes you want Wukong and Zixia to really stay together.. well, maybe I'm just too greedy about a happy ending I guess :D

Zixia is Monkey (Joker)'s one true love, it's destiny. And she is the one destined to sacrifice (die) to make Monkey into Monkey God (the one that escort Longevity Monk to India).

Without Zixia, everything would not have happened in a way that made Joker into the Monkey who accepts his fate (escort Monk to India). He thought he was going after Jing Jing by using the Pandora Box but it's actually predestined that he would used the box and meet Zixia. Jing Jing is just the "reason" for him to time travel and meet Zixia at the appropriate time. So he met Zixia and he didn't sacrifice the Monk to Bull. If you notice, Joker has 7 moles/marks on his foot which was given by Zixia when she "claimed him" which was prophesized by Guan Yin Goddess that he will meet the person to give him the marks and thus means he's on his way to attain enlightenment to be THE Monkey God to escort Monk.

It's all destined to happen.
BTW, I'm a Chinese, watched this movie in cinema when it first came out! Have watched it 20 times since then. On off. A very good movie, one of my favorite actually.
