Wing Commander IV video problem

WOW, its amazing to find out that other people are still talking about this game. I've loved it since the first day I played it. It was a great game and an even better movie. If hollywood were to remake this same script as a movie, it would be an instant hit.

But ever since i got my new computer(2001)the game runs fine, but the cutscenes don't play in the game. It always pops up a box that says the video can't be found on the disc. It gives the correct filename in the error box, but in lower-case.

The game continues just fine, but without the videos. I can also open the DVD folder (yes, I have the DVD edition) and play the videos, whose filenames are in uper-case.

Do you think that maybe the uper-lower case problem is causing this? or could something else be wrong. BTW I'm running on Windows ME.

I honestly have no idea since I'm not a computer person. I'd suggest asking the folks over at www.wcnews.com.

wasn't this edition made for a specific DVD hardware card?

maybe there's a patch available now to play it on any computer ??

I also have the DVD version, but I bought it on ebay to connect all the cutscenes into one movie.

Rip the movie scenes, record the different missions that you play, and then edit them all together. How you go about doing that, I don't know. But there's someone over at the Wing Commander CIC that's busy doing that.

You probably found out already since it has been a while, but you need the creative labs dvd card that came with the dvd edition. That is the only way it will play. Well...reliably. I have heard of people running it without, but who knows if that is the case.
