the World needs another Wing Commander game

it would be really kickass with todays graphic and filming enhancements, i'd love to see one more adventure, too bad Blair is dead though.

According to an article with one of the game designers they intended to bring Blair back from the continuation of Prophecy, so he's not dead. But EA (the most evil of evil game companies) killed this, possibly the best computer game series of all time because they decided if they didn't get to play with the IP no one gets to.

It was never clearly spelled out at origin what they would have done with blair. The truth of the matter is that not even everyone had the same opinion about what to do. And the end of prophecy left just enough wiggle room to go either way.

There's Wing Commander Arena up on Xbox Live Arcade. It's decent, but it isn't anything like the old games. Although rumor has it that EA is prepping the franchise for a new game...

I'd hate to see EA revive the WC franchise just because I KNOW they'd completely miss the point and ruin its legacy. We'd get something like "Madden's Wing Commander 2010" or something.

I agree...and they should have Joss Whedon (Firefly, Serenity, Angel, etc) directing it. Perhaps make it about the origins of the Colony Wars. That would go along the lines of the "Firefly" story. Seeing how the original voice actors are a bit old to reprise their roles, they could atleast have Hamill be Blair's dad.

Joss Whedon? No, no no no no. Then we'd suddenly have some side-plot Mary Sue character who's a 17 year old girl given superhuman powers by the Confederation and can take on Kilrathi (or Nephilim, whenever it would be set) with her bare scrawny arms, but suffers from emo-disease and wants "twue wove!!11!" with a guy she can't be with.
