Where were they going with this?

It was written as the pilot for a (never produced) show, hence why most of the plot lines were solved within the movie. Alas, it's now probably far too late for them to ever go back and finish off.

I don't doubt that it was written as a pilot like our brother Lemarchand says. Wish that they had gone for it. Might have worked as a miniseries as well, possibly even more so.

In retrospect, I (like others) figured White Dwarf was a pilot never given the Greenlight to become a series.
