Awful sofa!

Who would even think that the sofa they put in Peter's apartment would be appropriate. I wouldn't call it ugly and hideous, but it has to be in the right room. Peter's apt. was modern and that couch looked so ugly in there.

Why did the producers decide on that sofa? Where were the actors to object?

If it was a gag, we were never told. I just come away with the notion that they have terrible taste in furnishings and interior design.....

Film makers can be so dumb!

I thought the same thing. It goes to show you that either his family was so out of touch or they had never seen his apartment. I think the producers (or director or those in charge or set designing) probably figured one or the other about the family and chose that couch.

Can you imagine what Peter thought when he got out of the hospital and came home? 

Regardless of its ugliness, I think it's very tacky to give a used couch from a dead person's estate as an engagement present. It's distasteful and probably not very clean. Think of the potential for beg bugs!!! I mean, it's not like the family was poor or something, considering the size of their house and the expensive gifts they were giving each other.

In my opinion, it was an obvious gag. It totally doesn't match the apartment and then they use it to cover a huge stain!

I actually really like that loveseat. I agree it doesn't belong in Peter's apt. Maybe it would be better in Lucy's apt., the Callahan's house, or Celeste's house... Or better yet, MY HOUSE! It's very cottagy and cute!

I thought it was a gag to show how distant Peter was from his family at that moment. Also someone pointed out that it was wrong to give a used sofa bought from a estate as an engagement gift, but as it was the family business, I'd believe it was kind of normal for them.
Anyway, I don't think that choosing sofas is one of their strengths: look at the sofa in their living room in which Lucy slept. Oh my! It seemed so uncomfortable. I wouldn't be able to move my neck for weeks if I slept on it.
