Is I Robot connected to Virtuosity? Do they share writers FE?

Seeing as the main character in both dystopian sci fi films is a african american police officer with a prosthetic arm haunted by flashbacks, I sometimes wonder if there is a connection between the two. Especially since Will Smith's character is not a creation of Asimov.
