Washington's character should never have been jailed

His "crime" is when he shoots the reporter and camera man while trying to save, then avenge his family, right? So, there's a violent, chaotic shoot out going on and these reporters choose to walk up behind a man who is in shock and on a rampage and has TOLD them to stay out of the way, but they follow him anyway and get shot when he notices people coming up on his rear and fires to protect himself/kill bad guys. It's tragic, but ultimately their fault.

I think the overzealous reporter is one of the worst tropes. I'm not saying there's no basis in reality. We all know many in the media are vultures who will do nearly anything to get the shot or the story, but within reason. No reporter is going to continue filming in that manner when everybody around them is firing at will, in all directions. They're going to hunker down for safety, then when it's ALL CLEAR, they might try to get some more footage.

Anyway, I don't view what he did to them as a crime.

YEAH, BITCH! MAGNETS!

Look at all of the things cops have NOT been convicted of, these days. No way would he have been imprisoned for this - especially since it was an accident (he thought they were hostiles).

The Mans Arm was blown off and there were people shooting at him. Any judge or jury should have looked at the situation and concluded that the reporters put themself in that dangerous situation and someone with that amount of shock to the system is not liable to be judged as if they had a sound mind. If anything he should have been admitted to a trauma unit, psychoanalyzed during recovery, and then retired off the force. With pension intact along with therapy provided for him.
