DVD and VHS versions

So, I just stumbled upon this nugget of whatever at "Stock Exchangers", and figured it was worth spending $3 to find out whether it was as bad as I remembered. Then I check online and find out it's on DVD. Bummer, $3 wasted?

Maybe not... this VHS version, a Canadian release by CFP Video (catalog number 11852), lists the running time as 104 minutes, and credits Utah Saints on the cover (along with U96, Fierce Ruling Diva, and Moses On Acid). Allegedly the US DVD (and VHS?) version has the Utah Saints clip missing, and only runs 102 minutes. This isn't a huge loss, since the performances by the real groups were painfully short compared to the excruciatingly long performances by "Cyberstorm". I'm surprised this movie even came out on DVD, but maybe the US government needed something to torture Al Quaeda prisoners with that wouldn't leave physical marks, only ghastly nightmares and memories.

I'll post a real review if I can work up the courage to watch this again. From what I remember, the best thing about it is that the ravers were portrayed as decent people, not crazy drug fiends. And it was unintentionally funny.

Well... after sticking it in the VCR, I find out that some @#$% taped over all but the last 14 minutes; perhaps that was intended as an act of mercy? Anyway, this does leave one of the Utah Saints performances intact: it looks good and sounds "live" (not lip-synched), but it is barely over one minute. The DVD would suck considerably less if they'd licensed the Utah Saints stuff and included some full-length songs in the extras (or put them into the movie).
