Who sings "Love is All around" in Docu?

The Mary Tyler Moore theme (Love is all around) is sung towards the end of the movie. It's at the final fashion show.

Since this movie has no sound track and the font is too small to read on the closing credits, does anyone know who sings this version?

reply

I can't find the song neither. I have been searching desperately for months. Although I have preordered the DVD version of the movie that is coming out in January of 2004. Maybe they'll put something about it on there. www.gemm.com has a long list of recordings with Love Is All Around in it, but I can't tell which one is which.

i have been looking for that recording ever since i saw the movie years ago too! after reading your messages i checked gemm.com. i do know that sonny curtis did the original mary tyler moore theme song, but not the dance version in the movie. i can't believe that there is no recording available of that version in the film. have any of you had any luck finding it since you wrote here?

That is not the version we are looking for. This one is sung by a woman, and is a fast dance song. But thank you for throwing that out there.

I have a sound clip of it here. http://home.comcast.net/~orbit51/unzipped.mp3
Take a listen and hopefully someone will report back to the group. Thanks so much!

THANK GOD FOR A DVD PLAYER WITH A ZOOM BUTTON. THE SONG IS CALLED "LOVE IS ALL AROUND," WRITTEN BY SONNY CURTIS; PERFORMED BY DARREN SOLOMON, DEBRA BYRD, AND MARK AMBROSINO; ON THE LABEL WILBA MUSIC; USED BY PERMISSION OF MARK THREE MUSIC

Since my DVD player doesn't have a zoom, could you be so kind to check, who did the song "You make me feel"? I love this piano and vocal-version!!!

reply

Sandra Bernhard sings You Make Me Feel Mighty Real. The piano and vocal is the intro to the dance version featured in the catwalk show.

Filth is my politics, filth is my life!

Thanks - I loved that song. Is it available anywhere?

"If you can laugh at yourself you'll laugh your whole life."

The original theme song from "Mary Tyler Moore" was written by Sonny Curtis. This is not the dance remake that occurs near the end when the models are going down the runway. But thank you for checking.

Now that the mystery is solved as to who sings the song, has anyone been able to actually find it? I've searched the usual pay sites and some of the file sharing ones with no luck.

reply

FYI, Debra Byrd, the female singer, is the vocal coach on American Idol.

reply

YES BUT CAN YOU BUY A RECORDING OF IT ANYWHERE????

I e-mailed the producer of the track Darren Soloman (also featuring Debra Byrd and Mark Ambrosino) and here is what he says:

Wow - takin' me back to the old days with that one! That track never got released in any format, unfortunately. I'd love to get you a copy, but it's on a DAT somewhere buried in my attic -- it would take me forever to find it. Thanks for remembering, though, sorry I can't help you with this one.

Cheers,
-Darren

Hello All,

Someone randomly emailed me this thread. My name is Mark Ambrosino, and I was one of the producers/engineers on that track along with Darren Solomon. We recorded it at my studio , The Madhouse, in Queens NY. I would guess that there is a copy in the room I'm in right now, but it would take days to find. I remember that session well. I'm so glad to hear that you all enjoyed it as much we we enjoyed making it.

Best,

Mark
