the scene in which Gallagher loses it all on a sports bet. Everything looks fine until the very last minute, when the match (US football?) suddenly ends contrary to his accumulated bettings.

He just... stands there, stunned, fixing the TV screen.
Outstanding moment. Any middle of the road hollywood stereotypical product would have him climb up the wall screaming. Instead, he just... freezes; his life, quite simply, is over.

One among many. This movie is diamond in the rough. Wish there were more like it.

Totally!! I'd never heard of this film until I was flipping through the channels and I saw this on, liked what I saw, and wanted to know who made it. Soderbergh!! I cant believe it. I knew only a great filmmaker could make something like this. A great, great underappreciated movie. I've never heard of it before, and believe me that means something.
