I always been curious about Scotty the locomotive operating terrorist. When the train hits the tanker train at the end of the film in a quick shot you can see a big happy grin on his face.

Was Scotty a lonely heart broken terrorist who agreed to take a suicide job or did Dane and Penn pay him a 6 month vacation to Mexico to do hookers and blow and catch multiple std's before taking the job?

I think his background story is one of the greatest mysteries in the history of films.

I remember him kinda smiling and also thought it was odd....also I believe Scotty is played by Mike from Breaking Bad which it makes it even weirder because he'd definitely have a plan to get out of there before it hits.
