Only 5.0? Come on...

There are many far worse movies than this. It's just a fun action movie. What's the problem?

I agree, just watched it again for the......th time, give it a 9

A rating of 9? Well, I guess this movie impressed the s**t out of someone. But that's cool. I actually liked this movie pretty well until the ending, which was way over the top. Another thing that bugged me was McGill's character, Penn. I think McGill does a great job playing the bad guy, but his character is supposed to be a serious badass and he falls way short in the fight scene. I think the fight should have been more evenly matched with Ryback taking more punishment. Penn only gets in one decent hit, a kick, and it makes him look incompetent. We hear Penn say, "I'll take him myself, hand to hand." That's what we want, a good hand to hand match. Not the mostly one-sided match. We want to see a very competent bad guy that has skills that closely match the good guy. It makes for a better experience.

Yes the ~5.0 IMDB rating is low.

I personally liked Under Siege part 2 more than Under Siege the original...

And i have to tell you when i watched it in the movie theater with friends back in 1995/96 we did like it and also the other movie goers liked it as well...

So when someone watch it in 2010 and then log on to IMDB and rate it 3, 4 or 5 that does not reflect the quality of the movie what so ever.

In fact this film today is way way much better than an awful semi high profile pathetic film such as The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 (2009) and as far as i am concerned it was good as if not better than GoldenEye (1995).

I rather watch a Seagal movie anytime twice than to watch any Christopher Nolan/Christian Bale Batman movie once and get paid for it.

And i agree with the Marcus Penn final fight point, The final show down should have been much better than that however this is always a problem with Seagal movies, At least the ones i have seen so far.

Regarding the ending, I think a lot got changed due to the MPAA. Rumors (which will forever go unconfirmed) claim the Canadian cinema release was totally uncut (i.e. an NC-17 equivalent) with more to the final fight. Some footage is repeated in the US version, so perhaps it was originally more violent.

I agree, I actually hated this movie when it came out. The original is far superior but after watching this a few more times it's grown on me. I actually like it now but I don't love it like the first movie. Funny how time can change your view on something for the better or worse depending on what it is. Lol
