French comedy classic

No board for this classic?

I remember going to the cinema to see this twice back in 95. This film is a true classic of French comedy, up there with the "Bronzes", "Visiteurs" and others. Features comic act "Les Inconnus" at the height of their art. This film manages to make you laugh and touch your heart at the same time. A must see.

Hey man,

How are you ?

I'm affraid you can't find a zone 1 dvd of this movie.

You can order it on amazon.fr but it's going to be a zone 2 dvd. If you player can read it then order it but there are no subtittles. If you don't understand French at all, then it won't be very funny, even with subtitles. Les Inconnus play a lot with slangs and typical frenchy jokes.

Sorry.

Have a nice day.

Even in France you will have troubles finding this movie, because it wasn't reedited and therefore you would have to buy it "used" or spend a good 80€+ to find it as "new". Regarding the USA, I had a look at Amazon.com and apparently only a VHS was released, only available at high price due to rarity.

i think we're all french here but let's speak english ! i totally disagree with the user comment displayed on the main page of the film, which says that it seems a series of sketchs, and is not a well made movie. i think that's totally wrong, the movie is very well built, and in quite a rare shape in french comic movies : a trio, instead of the classical duo, much used by francis weber. and i think this is a great success, the movie has found a great balance lying on the comic genius of campan, bourdon and legitimus. the film is not only very funny, but very emotionnal too, and its characters are always believable. one of the french comic masterpieces, for sure.
