music in the movie

I was just wondering if anyone knows who is the author of the closing track in this movie? It also appears during the bombing on Japan...

reply

The music was written, composed and conducted by William Stromberg. You might here the music you mentioned in the upcoming "X Men 2" trailer as this music is becoming popular with the film crowd.
The soundtrack CD is available from vce.com.

I have the CD of the soundtrack (I called the movie's distributor several years ago and got the info on how to order it). Absolutely fantastic! Like all of the best documentary soundtracks you remember from your childhood.

reply

Please be aware that the "Trinity and Beyond" DVD has a nice feature that allows you to play the soundtrack music by itself, which saves the cost of buying a separate soundtrack CD.

That is so frickin weird, I looked this movie up to find out this exact thing! The use of music during the Hiroshima bombing footage is extremely effective.

The band performing the music was the Moscow Symphony.

Hello there! I'm dying to know the artist who performed the track "where are the boys" or "when the boys come" (or something like that) which plays in the old radio during the scene which soldiers/young men lay on beach and have fun.

It has this old time jazz groove in it.

Thanks in advance.

** EDIT **

I think I found it - Connie Francis - Where the boys are

the name of this track is listed in the ending ;-]

I too was really impressed with the soundtrack. It had a strong influence from holst 'the planets', but was still it's own material. It's so powerful and suspenseful and awe inspiring. I have a feeling that it will become a classic score sometime in the future.

Yes, the DVD comes with a feature that allows you to hear the soundtrack of each scene. Obviously even the producers realized how good the soundtrack was and added the feature (a rare thing). The music is indeed wonderful. It's also quite obvious to movie music devotees that composer Stromberg is heavily influenced by Bernard Herrmann throughout. Also, the main theme is very derivative of John Williams. Certainly a supremely talented pair of film music composers to steal from. Too bad Stromberg seems to be relegated to scoring mostly crappy horror and sci-fi films.

Unfortunately, the score is not included as a bonus feature in the Widescreen version of the DVD. :-(

I agree. The music was so amazing that I thought it was from an ancient opera or something... what language are these epic choir-songs for modern movies written in, anyways?

reply

The composer is Lennie Moore, who most recently composed the score to the Watchmen Motion Comic series, which is excellent btw. His score for this doc is free to download on his website, along with other previous works: http://www.lenniemoore.com/sounds.html#Trinity

what is the chinese song when the chinese are dancing with ribbons etc? Ive read somewhere it is called the chinese worker song or something?

reply

I thought it was annoying. The levels are off. I'd have to constantly decrease the volume for the music and then increase it again during commentary. I also thought it was too sensational and used way too much.

I don't know about the levels of the sound as I personally did not have that problem. However, I also did not find it either annoying nor too sensational. I thought it very similar to music used in movies originally made during the time period in which these events depicted actually took place. To me, this made it seem even more authentic given there was actual footage used of these events as they happened at that time. Maybe you have not watched many movies made during the 1940's and 1950's so you didn't make that connection but I have seen many movies made during this time period and the music was similar to that in many of those movies and specifically documentary types of that era.
