Ok, remember in the movie, when Burt discovers that shriekers only attack heat? Well, 2 minutes later, when they are being chased by them, and they hide behind the unfinished building, the shriekers stop chasing them and Burt acts like he doesnt know why. If he just figured out they only attack heat, why would he not know that they cannot see their heat through the wall? Please to explain.

Try listening to when the Shreikers when they scream ... can you hear human voices? (and I don't mean the moment when Grady is "BLAAAAAAAAGH!" ing at them on the oil tower).
Even if they were blocked from "view" at the moment, if the shreikers happened to wander past the solid wall, they would discover the people. They couldn't have stayed there long and I think that is basically what Bert was thinking when he panicked.
