Kevin Bacon
Why didnt bacon and reba return in the sequel?
They probably wanted too much money since the sequel was shot on a relatively low budget. It also went direct to video, which probably scared Kevin Bacon's agent away.
sharedo you happen to know what kind of pickup that earl is diving would be?
shareSorry, I have no idea.
I don't own this movie on DVD or VHS and I haven't seen it in quite some time either.
Go to http://www.stampede-entertainment.com/ and look there its in an interview with S.S. Wilson about the movies and series. id look it up for you but its 3am and am too tired too.
shareIts an old Jeep Pick-Up from maybe the early to mid 70's(pre chrysler days)... oddly enough, it's the same type of truck that's used for Desert Jack's Graboid tour vehicle in movie 3 and the series

I am completely out of ammo... this has never happened to me before...
That specific type of Jeep pick-up, with the round headlights and narrow, tall grill, is referred to as a gladiator. They started building them in that style around 1964. Truly an ugly pick-up. Or perhaps I am misremembering the second movie and the pick-ups changed between first and second movie. No matter. All Jeep pick-ups are ugly.
shareIn my opinion Grady Hoover wasn't very bad replacing Bacon.
shareEarl mentions Val having married a good woman. I assume he married Rhonda. Bert menions Heather still visiting her sister, so I imagine they split up or got divorced. As for the specific actor/actress not being in the movie, perhaps they were busy with other things or wern't interested in making another movie. Maybe they weren't even written into the script originally. I hate to think bad about people, but it is possible they felt they weren't offered enoug money. The movie really would have been better with Kevin Bacon in it :).

I would've loved it if Val & Heather were back. Kevin Bacon was so awesome in the first movie, I loved Grady, he was hilarious but I would've loved it if Val had a small cameo.
"I am the ultimate badass, you do not wanna `*beep*` wit' me!" Hudson in Aliens.
It says in the original movie trivia the truck is a 1963 Jeep Gladiator thriftside.

That's very common. Producer hires an expensive actor to help an unkown movie/serie to have audience. He succeeds and wanna produce more, but then the actor wants even more money.
It's sad, because Gummer was a small character on first movie and became the top one always present on all movies.
Because Kevin Bacon was a Big Name already did not to so some Direct to Video Sequel,He did Apollo 13 when this movie was made. Gross and Ward at this point were just working as character actors in whatever they could get
I'm gonna show you something beautiful everyone screaming for mercy
I don't know if they could have gotten Reba anyway, even if she would have taken a low paycheck. I read somewhere recently that in 1996 she was cast to play Molly Brown in Titanic, but had to drop out because the long shoot was going to conflict with her schedule. She was still pretty busy recording/touring at the time.
