Why the hell no release?

I watched and taped this mini series when it first came on in '95. Why no DVD (or VHS for that matter) release? The cast and the story line were first rate. I was hoping for more episodes of this show based on the other Op-Center books. I far as I know, it was shown only one other time. My tape is rather old and I'm worried it will become unwatchalbe eventually because I've played it so many times. Don't believe the rating of 5.5 because it's much better than that.

I found a VHS copy on Ebay. It was very hard to find a U.S. version. Unfortunately, this version has cut the original 4 hour tv movie down to 2 hours, which leaves out a lot of side plots.

Yes, I have the same feeling, why no DVD?
Around late 90s, I have brought one VCD ( very popular in Asia during the 90s) but I gave it to a friend and I am now so regret!!!
It is no way to buy it anymore...
In eBay, it has a DVD which sold in Denmark(?) and the price almost US$14.00 and the postage is again the same so it would cost almost US$30.00 for a copy...
Any body can help...?

I recorded this during the original broadcast, the entire four hour mini-series. I burned it onto DVD last year. Quality is ok for a burn from a ten year old VHS tape of the original broadcast. The only downside is that the first night of the broadcast, the local television station scrolled a winter storm warning message across the bottom of the screen every fifteen minutes or so. I watch it a few times a year. One of my favorite mini-series, next to Chiefs and The Blue and the Gray.

I'm glad I taped this on VHS when it came on back in 1995. I just dubbed it to DVD and the quality is a lot better than I thought it would be. Someone mentioned the running time to be around 4 hours, but I cut the commercials out and it seems to me that it runs right around 180 minutes (three hours). The commercial DVD release cut out all of the introductory background scenes about Paul and his wife, which I feel are necessary to understand that particular sub-plot. So I'm glad I have the full version.

I recently found the VHS copy I too made from NBC and I dubbed it today on a DVD. Considering that the copy was made from an SLP mode tape recording via an RCA cable to the recorder, it is totally watchable. Mine runs three hours with no commercials.

I too dubbed a VHS copy onto DVD and we are watching it tonight. It is a fair copy, considering the VHS tape was made from an analog NBC television station.
I would say it would be like a 7.5 to 8, if I had to rate the copy quality. Still, it's watchable

You can find the whole thing on youtube. I stumbled across it just now.

Can totally tell it's a made for TV movie from the 90's.

It's full content is on youtub* As far as I can tell it's the whole thing as it includes the nude scenes as well. (just a fair indicator that it's not the edited version)
