How did it go down in Spain?
Out of curiosity what sort of reception did this film get in Spain? Was it widely released and did Spanish critics like it? Do Spanish people think it is an accurate portrayal of the Civil War?
Very well received on its release in Spain when it was hailed as the best Spanish Civil War film. I still think it is.
Since then, however, the shine has been dulled a bit. There's been a lot of criticism relating to fidelity and there was a bit of a hooha when an International Brigader decided to lay into it.
