For fans; Deleted scenes - Informations and questions

Before anything else, few words. I think its obvious that this is not a movie that has leagues of fans and that there are many people who really hate it. As i always say, each to his own, if everybody liked the same thing this world would be a boring place. But i would appreciate if this board doesn't end up turning into another one where everybody are arguing about the movie or anything else related to it.

Now, thanks to very good friend of mine who (much to my surprise) also became fan of Tank Girl (movie) like me while doing research about it, i managed to get very good list of some deleted scenes from the movie. I'm putting this list here for fans and anyone interested in finding out more about missing scenes and original cut of Tank Girl. I hope that everyone, most of all the fans, will find it useful and if you know more deleted scenes not listed here, please reply and share what you know.

While this list does have links for videos and pictures of many deleted scenes, there are also some which are only rumors without any proof that they were filmed. Of course, if anyone can confirm that rumored scenes are true, go right ahead.

Anyway, here's the list;

There is a workprint version which is almost 95 minutes long and has some shots, scenes and dialogue not present in any other version. It also has unfinished special effects and alternate soundtrack but it's not like it has whole bunch of deleted scenes and it actually misses some animation scenes and off screen dialogue. I did managed to find this workprint and it is interesting for lot of reasons, one of them is for hearing weird as hell dubbed voice of Sub Girl character which i can't decide is either hilarious or creepy.

Theatrical trailer shows some deleted scenes and extra lines of dialogue;

One of the Rippers crashes through the window of Water & Power flyer and kills one soldier (0:14). This scene was originally in opening of the movie which had old lady sand hermit digging up a bottle of water, dancing and drinking from it when Water & Power pilot shows up, brutally shoots her dead and takes the water before he is killed by Ripper. Tank Girl witnesses all this on her buffalo.

Kesslee saying "Talented, isn't she?" to Sgt. Small while they are watching TG and Jet talking inside the tank (0:42).

Kesslee saying "What's it like, knowing you're about to die?" to TG during their final fight and she responds by saying "You tell me!" while swinging at him (1:24).

One TV trailer also shows couple deleted bits; Ripper killing Water & Power pilot (0:02), extra shot of T-Saint-probably from scene where Rippers have trapped TG and Jet (0:16).

Original and unifinished opening. Comet is heading towards earth and TG is shown as a young girl who hides in her trailer home while her parents frantically look for her amongst a frightened panicked crowd before it crashes. It was intended that somehow she survives the meteor crash and grows up on her own. This scene would have been before the opening credits.

TG in her room messing around and listening Glory Box by Portishead, only to be scolded about not being on guard duty by her first boyfriend Richard. This scene was cut early in the film and it gives TG a reason to mature a bit in the film about not letting other's down. Apparently, this scene was cut because it shows her dildo collection (too much for MGM?).

Deleted scene from the part when TG is still a prisoner of Water & Power. She sneaks under the security camera before entire scene with her trying to steal the tank and Jet saving her (or maybe before the scene where she talks with Jet in toilet).

Dialogue between Kesslee and TG when they first meet was slightly different. MGM made director to use the TV version of one line of dialogue. "If you wanna torture, spank me, ..." was originally "fk me" which got changed to "lick me".

Extended Cold Room scene. There is more dialogue between TG and Kesslee. She asks him to get her some juice and croissants and he shoots her up with cholera.

As mentioned on trading card showing this scene and confirmed by director, there was also a part where after leaving her sicken awhile, Kesslee returns and asks her will she give in and be a good little prisoner. In the same scene he also gives her some water which she spits in his face, which is why he puts her in the pipe. Even though test audience loved this scene MGM forced director to butcher it for some reason.

According to this trading card, after Rippers have attacked and killed Kesslee's soldiers and ripped his arm off, TG teared off the probe that Sgt. Small shot in her leg. Possibly filmed but deleted?

According to this trading card, Subrina (Sub Girl) offered the use of her garage to TG and Jet in exchange for Jet's lie detector. Possibly filmed but deleted?
http://www.tankgirl.info/tankgirl/images/flick/tradingCards/41b.jpg
Sub Girl character also had a bigger role in both original script and cut but in post production her role was extremely shortened and turned into cameo. There was a scene showing her building the sand-submarine which she used in original ending when she arrives at Water & Power and helps TG and others by freeing the prisoners.

In the MedBay, line of dialogue by Kesslee; "You see the glass half empty, I prefer to see it half full" was added later. The original line was "Doctor, about those pain killers, maybe you should take them yourself".

There were a few additional scenes with Sgt. Small including what director called "a really stupid running joke about him being soaked by the waterfall curtain in Kesslee's office". In the movie you can see him get soaked by waterfall curtain in scene where he brings Che'tsai to Kesslee soon after he got his arm ripped and face mutilated by Rippers.

In 95 minute workprint version there is a small extra part where TG and Jet put duct tape on Madam's mouth right after TG starts singing "Let's Do It". Entire scene was disliked by some of the audience during test screenings which is why it kept getting cut shorter and shorter. Some of the other deleted parts are; Sam is the first one who starts singing and ends it by grabbing the guard's guns. Jet sings, at first she is really shy then starts to be really wild. TG doing a real Sid Vicious type lyric to screaming dancer fans.

According to this trading card, after she and Jet are trapped by rippers and thrown in cell, TG says "Handsome devils, aren’t they". Possibly filmed but deleted.

On this trading card it's mentioned that Kesslee and Small are fully aware that TG and Jet are planning to steal the weapons, which could mean that maybe there was a similar scene deleted from the movie.

Scene where TG chases the Water & Power truck with her tank had lot more gags, like TG using her squirt gun and putting a condom on a banana before throwing it at the guard. 95 minute workprint version does have some extra shots in this scene, including a part where TG throws something on one of the guards and knocks him out from the truck. It looks like she throws a rock but it could also be the banana with condom like mentioned above. Line "You guys can't shoot" by TG was also added later, but director hated it like all other voiceover and dialogue changes that studio forced into the final cut.

In 95 minute workprint of the movie there is an extra shot of TG's tank pulling the trailer full of weapons back to the safe ground right after Booga saves TG. One trading card describes this small bit.
http://www.tankgirl.info/tankgirl/images/flick/tradingCards/70b.jpg

TG and Booga in bed after having sex. It was deleted because studio thought it was too touchy to suggest that main heroine would screw a mutant kangaroo. Apparently, this scene was included in original theatrical release of the movie but was not included in any other VHS/DVD versions. Now, youtube video of this deleted scene only shows TG and Booga in bed after they had sex but from what i heard, there actually was a love scene which included "Full body ripper suit and $5,000 worth prosthetic 12 inch penis" made by Stan Winston and his crew. I don't know is this true so i hope that someone will shed some light on this.
(First picture shows T-Saint walking toward Booga's place right before he finds him and TG together in bed)

Possible deleted scene where Jet and rippers prepare for sneak attack on Water & Power.
http://www.tankgirl.info/tankgirl/images/flick/tradingCards/74f.jpg

On one trading card it's described that after telling TG that she is "walking talking microphone" Keslee pulls some "little mole" off her that was actually a planted audio device.
http://www.tankgirl.info/tankgirl/images/flick/tradingCards/80b.jpg

Another possible deleted bit. It's mentioned on this trading card that after he manages to back TG in corner Keslee says some of his typical poem-like dialogue.
http://www.tankgirl.info/tankgirl/images/flick/tradingCards/83b.jpg

In 95 minute workprint version, right after Booga shows up with captured Water & Power soldiers and right before TG kisses him, he introduces himself to Sam and asks her does she collects baseball cards. This trading card also mentions this small deleted bit.

First video shows part of the original ending (before they opted to go with an animated closing) which originally happened after TG kisses Booga. Having destroyed WP's control, Sub Girl shows up post battle with the 'battle sand sub' she was talking about earlier, acting as the back up cavalry to the battle, freeing the WP prisoners, and assuring their win.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJdhT0LojAw
Second video shows completely deleted scene where rain actually begins to fall thanks to the water being freed from WP replenishing the natural ecosystem to the earth, as foretold by 'Rain Lady' (a.k.a. Sub Girl) in the film. This scene is known only through an image on the back of the VHS box of the film and in the CD booklet, showing TG in an umbrella hat and Booga holding out his hands as the rain falls.

This ending was deleted after negative reactions of MGM and test audience for several reasons, some of them being like they didn't understand why it started to rain or they didn't like the last shot when TG burps into camera.

Thanks for the links! This film is a fun romp with some funny cameos. I want to buy the Blu Ray version.

Thank you for posting the links! I honestly wish they would have included some of these cut scenes on dvd instead of just commentary. It's nice that some of these scenes can be found on the internet but they really should have included them on the DVD.
