Dollhouse scene question...

Here's something I was wondering about: What do you think would have happened if, instead of Duke Metger moving into the "Doll House," some really nice family unaware of its history moved in? Would the dolls have attacked them too, or was it just because of the kind of person that Duke was? Any thoughts?

reply

They Probably would have gone after them too.
The main thing about that story that got to me was thea it seemed so much like an episode of the old Twilight Zone

I don't know if the dolls would've attacked a family. Maybe it was just because of how the guy was.

Well they would of prolly scared the family off it was just because he was hateful they attacked him...well I think so

reply

They would have left anyone else alone. Duke shot one of the dolls so I think that's what made the rest of the dolls attack him besides the fact that Duke was a jerk.

Hehe -- I like this subject, and I thought of something along these lines a bit earlier too. My thing is that I think they even would have left Duke alone, had he enough sense to leave before making things worse. I mean, it was pretty much his will went to S.O.L., with his name changing to Jack B. Ass, after he decided he wanted to insist they were not gonna make him leaving. What? -- even "after" what happened to his employee.

I think this story would make a great big screen version. I would title it :
"No Strings Attached"

Hey primate84! You know, that's a good question. I hope that the dolls wouldn't attack them because if you remembered in the movie, they were the souls of the slaves that were murdered. As Duke was bragging to his assistant, Rhodie, "Eight of them were hanged on that tree, yonder..." As the story went, Abe Lincoln did the Emancipation Proclamation that freed them and the owner of the house did not agree with that. So any slaves that tried to escape the plantation were slaughtered. Of course with that, the dead slaves were angry and they wanted revenge for their murders. And also, you do have to think about the person that Duke was. I don't know if you know this but, there two crooked politicans that were running for governor for the state of Louisiana. One was Eric Edwards, who was caught for embezzling, and David Duke, who was a member of the KKK. That was Duke Metger's character was loosely based on. Come on think about it, David Duke and Duke Metger. If you have seen a picture of David Duke, he and Duke Metger looked alike. Also, consider all the stuff that Duke was saying, especially when he was home alone and when he was stalked by that one particular doll. Remember the part when he got so mad when he saw the mural of Miss Cobbs, how he walked over and begin to beat her in the mural. When he was finished, blood trickled down the mural, almost like he busted her lip/mouth in the flesh. The doll angrily attacked him, biting his neck and Duke had fight to get him off. He told the doll, "Now, I'm going to have to an end to your little black ass!" And then when he pinned the doll onto the dartboard, Duke angrily growled, "Now, I'm going to shoot your little *beep* balls!" Duke, of course, made ugly, racist comments during that story and the ending to his demise was rather interesting. If you look real closely, there is a part where you look, while the dolls are eating him, look at his right hand. If you look closely, his middle finger on his right hand is missing. But if you look again, there are some dolls that are eating. When close-ups are done, one of the dolls are eating his right middle finger! Gross, isn't it? Duke was an evil person, but I don't know if exactly he deserved his demise or what. I call definitely say that in the first story, "Rogue Cop Revelation," the three cops in that story, DERSERVED it! That's all I can say on that! Sorry if this was too long, but I hope that it thoroughly explain everything!

I'm trying to figure out why didn't he just leave when he saw that same doll from the limo on the footstep where his friend fell from?

reply

I think they would have attacked a family, too. The old guy that was ranting about the dolls being vengeful and all said that the place was supposed to stay empty out of respect to the souls of the slaves that died there, so anyone that moves in there would have gotten attacked.

I think that if it was just some normal family (Talking "innocent mom, dad, junior, pet dog" type), be them White, Black, Asian, whatever, the dolls wouldn't attack them as they never did anything wrong. With Duke, he was former KKK and still was a racist prick, so the dolls brought forth saying "Get the *beep* off our site of murder you racist basterd or pay the price!", Duke didn't listen and in the ended up like them soldiers eaten by the kids in "From A Whisper To A Scream", which ironically was produced by Darin Scott, the guy who produced and co-wrote this.
