anyone not black but enjoyed this?

personally I think that even though most of the actors are black, and some of the issues of the movie are 'black' related, horror fans of all races could enjoy this.

I didn't think it was silly. There are some possible cultural differences.

Romeo Must Die was very much like this, I felt. Not to sound racist here -- again, I must stress that I'm only talking about cultural differences -- but, for instance, that one dance scene, which I believed had people cheering on... I could imagine a black guy (obviously not everyone) saying something along the lines of "damn, that girl can work it!", whereas I only found it to be extremely lame and downright embarrassing to watch. I wish the movie was devoid of any of that crap. And I would assume this is because of me not being the target audience. That's not to say that contrast always creates negativity, though (point in case: Fresh Prince in Bel Air seems to appeal to everyone)! I'm only saying some things do in fact appeal more to one crowd than the other (though there are always, always individual exceptions).

That said, I am certain there are also many "white" movies out there which appeals more to us than them. There's no need to deny this. Embrace culture.

I'm white, and I thought this movie was great...along with Cundieff's other efforts, like Fear of a Black Hat. Tales succeeds on so many levels it's astounding. That's why I've marked it as one of the best horror films of the '90s. Besides, the problems Cundieff and co. address in this film are not black-specific: all of them have to do with hate and violence. Those are universal topics. The fact that this film can explore racism, domestic violence, black-on-black crime, etc. and not be preachy, while still being frightening, is really something. And I normally despise "wraparound" segments in anthology films - they're too often pointless and have nothing to do with the stories. Not this one. I could say more but I think I'll reserve it for other posts.

I'm white and I saw it with my Dad when it was released in 95. I was ten years old at the time. It was a really good anthology horror film. It was both funny and scary at the same time. It also had some interesting social commentary in each story. I thought this was one of the better anthology horror films of 90's. I highly recommend it to those of you who haven't seen it yet.

I quite liked it. It's a lot like other good stuff like Tales From The Crypt. Actually, if you've seen the 1972 Crypt movie, the way is plays out and the ending are quite similar to Hood.

you nailed it, the atmosphere reminds me exactly of the 1972 Tales From the Crypt movie. The faces are black, but this white guy really dug the movie. Revenge is always a great theme for a horror movie.

I'm another 'white guy' who really enjoyed the film. It's a classic, and very underrated.

I think that it's an awesome anthology horror movie. It stands the test of time because it has powerful and important messages on top of being an entertaining little horror flick!

I'm white and I can tell you that this movie is one the best horror movies of all time. It's a damn classic, no doubt about it. It's probably one of the most funny, yet serious horror movies ever. Everything about it is amazing, save maybe the final tale with Crazy K.

Now, I do like rap music, so that may be why I like it even more then your average "white" guy...But I can say with confidence that my fiance, who is also white and absolutely hates rap music, throughly enjoyed this movie as well.

By the way...favorite story is without a doubt the one about the Slave dolls. Best. Story. Ever.

I am Mexican-American and I absolutely enjoyed this film. I remember wanting to see this movie when I saw previews when I was 9, but I didn't fully watch until today. Man, 14 years later and 23 now, I finally saw this movie, even though I've seen bits and pieces of it here and there on HBO and Sci-Fi. Also, I am a huge hip-hop fan. Been one since childhood at that, and the song from Spice 1 was a great song from him, as I do like the rapper as well. Have a few albums of his. My favorite story was the Crazy K one. That one really sent chills down my spine.
