What made the movie unique and great. (SPOILERS)

Killing the woman-Dawn-, was what made the movie unique and great.

Many point to Guy joining forces with Buddy to prove "what he really wanted" and what he would get from Buddy rather than from Dawn, in other words for selfish purposes. But this movie would have not been the same if Dawn, for example, had been a man. It would not have even been close enough. This movie is different than 99 percent of all Hollywood movies in that, this movie does not give in to the matriarchal focus most movies have where the man is always being humiliated, made fun of and used as an ATM. The director really took a big leap of faith by not giving in to the customary and to the establishment of anti-male movies.
