Are we really supose to believe that Mccord was just a fireman?

I am not saying that because he was kicking ass,but he was disarming bombs and doing all kinds of other crazy sht,in Under Siege Seagal was not just the Cook,he was a Navy Seal. Certain aspects of this movie reminded of Under Siege

I don't think he was just a fireman (the computer record of him on the computer screen should've implied he was some kind of military commando, with the way he could make a bomb and dart gun out of everyday materials under severe stress, while killing a dozen people who were seasoned killers themselves).
