Die Hard with Van Damme

"Let's make Die Hard all over again, only with van Damme instead of Bruce Willis." I think the idea's a bit stupid, but I like the movie

Go van Damme!

I'd say this was on equal footing to Die Hard..

Haha, it is pretty much the same movie, just with more hostages and a nastier villain. Still great and possibly Van Damme's best non-martial-arts movie.

Yes

This was way better than "Live Free or Die Hard".

yes indeed

yeah, the kids could have been Lucy and Jack McClane.
even Darren's last name in it starts with Mc

this is just one of the many movies made since 88 that were basically "die hard on/at...."

what i find funny is that it features Powers Boothe playing the lead bad guy and Raymond J. Barry as a good guy. they both played in Rapid Fire with Brandon Lee with reversed roles. Powers was the good cop helping Brandon and Raymond was the bad guy who wanted Brandon dead.

reply

lol, that's great

Van Damne is no Bruce Willis and this film doesn't compare to the Die Hard trilogy but it's definetly the best of the 'Die Hard on/in a...' genre IMO.

Van Damme has better moves, but Willis is a superior actor and the script in Die Hard was much better. But still, this movie is a whole lot of fun and it's one of the best Die Hard clones ever made (even beats a couple of Die Hard sequels).

You act like this was the first or only time the formula was repeated. Seagal did it with Under Siege (twice, and then again in a couple of other films), Harrison Ford in Air Force One, Sandra Bullock in Speed 2, Wesley Snipes in Passenger 57, Stallone in Cliffhanger, Slater and Travolta in Broken Arrow, Cage and Connery in The Rock. Hell, even Shannon Tweed did it in No Contest.

Die Hard inspired many films. Some good, some bad. This was in the middle, I think.
