American DVD ever available??

I search all the time for a DVD on this great play. We can buy one that is available for Region 2, but never one for the USA. Do you know who we would write to request this? A friend tried burning a copy, but it won't be allowed as it's copyrighted... which would be fine with me, if the thing were available in current technology!

I think Jessica Lange and Alec Baldwin are perfect in this play! Isn't the original film with Brando and Leigh untoppable? I always thought so until I saw this great production.

Please someone: make this available!

Baldwin actually got belly laughs when he tried to come off as Stanley Kowalski on Broadway. He failed so desperately that he was ashamed to make his way out of the theatre. If Tennessee Williams hadn't been dead already, this would have killed him!

While to me this is the weakest of the three filmed versions, it was decent. Oddly enough I thought Lane and Goodman were the most consistent in their solid, supporting performances, while Baldwin and Lange seem to vacillate between perfect and hollow (declarative). The production values seemed impressive for what I imagine was a tight budget.

To answer your question, if you don't know yet, the DVD was released about 2 months ago and is available on Blockbuster online now or for purchase just about anywhere. I wish they would finally get around to releasing the Ann-Margret version from 1983 which to me was just about pitch-perfect.
