3/10. Here's why:

I know why revivals of plays are necessary. It's the same reason why a play isn’t performed just once: Because it’s live. However, movies are not. Remaking a movie scene-by-scene isn’t a good idea. A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE 1995 doesn’t add anything to the original movie. I’m pretty sure the creators of AMERICAN HORROR STORY saw Jessica Lange in here and decided to write a character for her based on her performance, and they did it again until her departure in season 4. The way she chews scenery is good in that show because it’s meant to be campy, but here, she goes overboard. However, I really liked Alec Baldwin’s performance. I don’t know what, but there’s something about him that makes his STANLEY KOWALSKI look more realistic than Marlon Brando’s. Not that Brando’s was a cartoon or anything like that.
