Who is Dave Morgan to Jen Gallagher? They never really explain this, if it's her uncle, father, friend??

The above poster is right. He is her boss, and eventually became a good friend.
What cracks me up about his character though, is how he tells Jen that 'she has a good man in Chris' AFTER he caught peeping!
He should have encouraged her to leave him sooner.
I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
