Steel Frontier vs Firefly/Serenity

Did anyone notice that the Reavers in Serenity play the same crazed roll as the Death Riders in Steel Frontier? Even the Reaver's corpse-decorated space ships feel just like the Death Riders' skull decorated cars. Since Steel is from 1995 and Serenity 2005, does anyone know if Serentity gave proper credit to Steel?

i really didnt see any similarities in a big scale. the only real similarity was the western feel to everything, in the future. reavers were mutated people, Death Riders were ex military, they shot and killed people reavers ate you.
