little girl from movie

I know there was a thread about Kyra and Julie looking like sisters but can someone tell who green lighted that little "girl" to be the daughter of 2 attractive actors? My god that was a homely little girl. Everytime she came on screen I would shudder and think of Chaka from Land of the Lost. Am I the only one who felt this way?

reply

Yes, the little girl wasn't very fitting of her parents.
But a worse child had to be Sandra Bullock's kid in Hope Floats. Now *that* was an ugly child.

reply

look at the ages of the kids in these movies -- I will gaurentee that they look 10 times better in there teens -- 8 - 10 years old can be a very ugly time for kids

reply

It is a very gawky age. This girl is a really bad actress though and I can't figure why they put her with all these A-list starts.

maybe she was having sex with the director..... You idiots... shes a little cutie... Denis Quaid is attractive but Julia Roberts looks like she just got back from a contest to see how many apples you can fit in your mouth and she won... This woman is not as attractive as everyone makes her out to be.... Anyways off topic i think this is a great movie and most of the acting is good... the car sick scene still kills me. This young lady has cute written all over her face, even the way she talks is cute.... i hope none of you ever have children cause u might just end up calling ur child ugly

reply

All I can say is, you people have something seriously wrong with you to say anything about this little kid. I don't see where anyone can get off saying she is ugly. You are probably the same people that think Dakota Fanning is cute. The kid in this movie is sweet, but unfortunately the movie sucks. I am sitting here watching it on tv and it is dragging on interminably. This is the one of the only times I can say that Julia Roberts made a hige mistake!

reply

Well, "Doodlebug" has exactly 0 acting credits since this film. What does that tell you?

reply

Your all very tacky!

reply

EXACTLY!

By your first sentence I can tell what kind of sick whacko you are!

Oh, I adored Berniece! She was terrific in that role. They put those unfortunate glasses on her and that was the only reason she looked a little awkward. Actually, considering the actress, they had to do something to make her look awkward because she was a lovely little girl.

reply

Actually, I know her, she goes to college with me and we are both on the Equestrian Team. Part of the reason she got the part was because she could ride, and I think its really sad that people have to sit around and make fun of a little girl. She is still young (21) and she's very pretty.

reply

that's wonderful! i wondered what happened to her. i thought she was a cutie pie in the film - with those dimples. and i absolutely knew that one of the reasons she was chosen was because she could ride. duvall also is an equestrian. congrats to her!

Just watched the movie again last night, and I stand by my original post. Doodlebug was not cute and could not act. She was one of the many reasons that attributed to this film being a flop. And like an earlier post mentioned, she hasn't done squat since then.

I'm glad she is allegedly cute now.

This girl was adorable. Is your idea of a cute child along the lines of Jon Benet Ramsey? I thought she was a good match to play Quaid's daughter.

You were looking for a Jon Benet?

reply

Making fun of a kid is bad. Anyone doing so is a loser.

Actually, I thought she resembled Julia Roberts, in a good way. First, anyone who uses blasphemy is a loser. Secondly, the girl was a very good equestrian and they needed such a little girl for the role. Those children don't just show up in a casting room! Probably the reason she has no other acting credits is that she wasn't interested in acting, but in horses.... That makes her a very smart equestrian! And a very smart little girl, who, from the account of her friend in this thread, has grown up to be a fine young woman!

I thought the little girl was adorable but I did have a hard time believing that two actors that both have those winning smiles would have had a child with such a normal smile. But actually I am glad that they weren't too accurate because a child that was more genetically theirs wouldn't have looked as cute because of the age factor

I have to sort of agree with everyone on this thread LOL!!!

Number one, she was miscast, but according the one poster, she was chosen because she could ride, which is a key thing to the movie.

She was not a physical beauty, i.e. JonBonet, but I LIKED that, actually, it made it realistic, because as another poster kind of stated, Dennis and Julia are NOT the most beautiful people in the world. They are attractive, very attractive, but NOT true, perfect beauty. They have flaws. So it stood to reason that the child wouldnt be some perfect blonde with perfect features. The "parents" features all together are far from perfect. For a good example of "attractive" parents that equal unattractive children, one word: RUMER

I also agree that she could not really act, but obvisouly they chose her for riding skills, and even though she "over-acted" she DID hold her own in the movie.

I think what got me most about her, was her character was kind of annoying. NOT her as a person, but her character. I wonder why they even needed to have a child in that movie? I guess to make the marriage have a reason to work out??

"Why Pinto?"
"Why NOT?!"

She could neither act nor ride - she was mutton-fisted and jerking the reins. Riding well is not just about staying on.

Making fun of any child is a pretty low thing to do and doing it on a public message board really says something about your character. Personally, I think she was pretty adorable.

As far as Mae Whitman (who played Birdee's daughter in Hope Floats) she was cute at the time and grew up to be quite beautiful. Watch Parenthood and see.

I'm glad he's single, because I'm gonna climb that like a tree.
