If you don't have the VHS copy of this, then you're not seeing all of it

I just confirmed this. All DVD and Blu-ray editions of this movie is cropped compared to the VHS fullscreen editions. There are NC-17 copies of the VHS, they aren't all R-rated.

Okay where did THIS come from then?? NOT the VHS. NOT the DVD.

Laserdisc? http://i.imgur.com/yK6lqbP.gif

Obviously there is a much wider version.. what gives?

Hm. We're not supposed to share stuff like that here, but I'll forget I noticed.

Is there anything important cropped in the DVD, like dance moves? Because I'd prefer to see less body parts anyway, so don't care about that.

I have a new update based on something that just happened tonight.

I was flipping the channels, and Starz Black, on Time Warner Channel 583 was airing showgirls. It was not in HD, it was in SD. And it was showing the scene where Nomi is finally starring in Goddess, and it appears that it was showing more than the 16:9 widescreen edit.

The 16:9 version used recently on the premium movie channels appear to show more at the top and bottom than the DVD/Blu-Ray versions. This one I just saw tonight appears to be the open matte version, or something very close to it. I was able to confirm with the infamous scene where Nomi beats up that singer.

Completely random. I always watch tv late at night, seen the movie on there and flipped through the channel, and have never come across this version until now.

As luck would have it, there are no future airings scheduled on this channel, I can only presume all the airings on HD channels will be the 16:9 version. But who knows, they may air this open matte version in the future.

HEADS UP. I think they're going to show the open matte version again.

Starz Black (Starz in Black), non-HD channel (Time Warner Channel 583 in the US) airing this Monday September 19, 2016 at 11:10pm (Central Time).

I'll schedule this to record.

what about the deluxe 15 year anniversary blu ray? I just can't believe that they could cut off any of the screen with the blu ray or dvd versions of this film or any movie. and this whole thing is so stupid and pointless because why would they do this to only these two mediums but not to the vhs medium?

finally signed up here.

okay, so i bought both versions of the 15th anniversary. A two-disc version, which is just a blu-ray disc combined with a DVD disc. And then a few months later, I saw amazon showing a single-disc version of the 15th anniversary edition. And in the technical specs, it CLEARLY SAID 1.33:1 format. Back then, the web page doesn't appear to show that anymore.

So I ordered that, and it was the same exact thing as the blu-ray in the two-disc special edition.

So now, there is another edition that appears to have come out in 2015. I don't see any particular review on that version, it appears to have a different cover compared to past versions. Its a little too expensive for me to check just for kicks.
