Why are these characters so annoying?

Is it the writing, the acting, the direction or a combination of all three?

If it was just Becker you could say "he's a robot, his social skills are lacking". Though I fail to see how him being so antagonistic and a general asshole would realistically help him garner sympathy from many people. Which I think was the point of both David's and Becker's models. He was supposed to be the Wounded Soldier, someone you feel sorry for and want to help. Why was he like this, unless he "broke" his programming as well, and decided to go the asshole route? But he wasn't as advanced a model as Jessica, right, so was he even capable of that? I'd think if you're designed for infiltration, you'd want to attract as little negative attention as you possibly could.

"Get off my back" Ross, way over the top, and not in a fun way.

Lauer was pretty much there for exposition. And to do stupid things.

Terrible acting by all three.

Hendricksson and Jessica were slightly better. Slightly. /going OT now/ But then the whole love thing happened... Which could've been cool, if she was tricking him to get to Earth. But they went with the robot evolving to have human emotions, out of nowhere. I don't mind that, but it wasn't that well developed, if at all.

What was supposed to be conveyed with the way the characters acted towards eachother? Was it paranoia? Was it supposed to make us question if they were human or not? Whatever it was, it was poorly done IMO.

I don't mind bad effects and cheap locations. But I didn't care for any of these people. I wasn't invested in them surviving, or if they turned out to be a robot or not. If you don't have good characters, people the viewers would enjoy spending almost 2 hours with, what _do_ you have?

OK, this was a bit ranty, I admit that, but am I in the minority here? The characters were annoying, right?
