This Film Deserves Awesome Reviews !!!

In all fairness: in the opening credits, it states that this film is a "freely adapted" version of Hawthorne's work. Therefore, this then gives the creators artistic liscense. It was never meant to be an exact re-telling of Hawthorne's tale. The storyline, cinematography, costume design, script, and yes-- even the acting (for the mostpart) is excellent, I feel--------and am amazed that it got such a low rating. Even the time period in which this story takes place is historically accurate (in the film)------which contains some beautiful background scenery---absolutely georgeous. The music is wonderful and very appropriate to this story/film, as well.
I can't imagine a better choice for Rev. Dimmesdale than that marvelous actor, Gary Oldman, who is absolutely brilliant (and georgeous) in it. All of the other actors/players did a fine job, as well.
Anyone care to do a rebuttle w/me, based on these factors ?
