This Movie Failed a Generation of Lazy Students

The Scarlet Letter was assigned reading in my 11th grade English class. This was about five years after this movie came out. Yep. You know what happened. Half of the class decided that only "suckers" read the book when there's a movie out about it.

On the day the Book Reports were due we were all supposed to go to the front of the class one by one and talk about an aspect of the book.

I struggled mightily to hold back the tears of laughter as student after student talked about the Indian raid at the end and the action-packed scenes as their favorites.

I bet they all hated Demi Moore after that.

The same thing happened in my English class when the Leonardo Dicaprio version of Romeo and Juliet came out. Funny stuff!

Comeuppance at last! Gotta love it.

The movie didn't fail them. They failed themselves and they were right to hate Demi Moore. She's a piss-poor actress who runs the gamut of emotions from A to B.
