How come nobody hates The Last of the Mohicans (1992)?

That one is nothing like the book either so what gives?

The movie is better than the book. That is my opinion on it anyways. It's a rare thing for a movie to be better than a book.

The Last of the Mohicans was not a serious piece of literature but a kind of action-packed book. Michael Mann knew this, and since the book wasn't highly-regarded, he was free to play around with it.

The Scarlet Letter is a nationally-recognized masterpiece of literature, so of course, any attempt at adaptation would be heavily-scrutinized. Boy, did this ruin it big-time with this one.

And the film of Mohicans did capture the spirit of the novel quite well.
"Scarlet Letter" rapes the spirit of the novel. Letter is a tragedy. The 1995 film has a Happy ending. You really don't get that?
