Am I the only one who actually LIKED this movie???

From what I've read on the IMDb page for this film, it's supposed to be a real turkey. However, I just watched it yesterday and I liked it. I even thought Demi Moore was pretty good (I'm not too fond of her and I didn't even recognize her), loved Gary Oldman though. So am I the only one who liked The Scarlet Letter?

(I haven't read the book, so I can't say anything about the way it has been adapted for the silver screen)

No I've just brought this and loved it "yes for Gary Oldman I'm afraid" but I also liked the story and I've not read the book is it better than the film and not too heavy going, I can't stand books that are so heavy going you give up on them. For me a nice film to forget the rest of the world in.

...or a lot of people who just like intelligent dialogue, sensible adaptations of great literature, a coherent plot, complexity of emotion... &c...

Rented it in the first place for Gary Oldman, and for that I'm not disappointed. He's brilliant. He's gorgeous. He's wasted in this terrible movie.

I enjoyed it too! I had not read the book when I saw it, so of course, I found it entertaining. After reading the book I realised how poor an adaptation this movie was. I didn't think Demi Moore was that bad. That scene with the maid in the bath and the candle was a bit odd.

This movie is my guilty pleasure. I like it for what it is. As is noted above it doesn't do anything for the book but if you see it without having read the book it's fine. I think the acting is good, the costumes are awesome, and while it's not like the book, it's still a good story.

Absolutely beautiful movie.
Touching story, wonderful music, brilliant acting.
Even hoarse Demi's voice is what the movie needed.
It touched me like Legends of the Fall, Wuthering Heights and of course much better than Room with a View.
So why all the negative comments...oh well. Everyone has his personal opinion i guess.
8/10 at least, maybe 9/10 if there was not so much lust in it.

I loved the movie AND the book. Although they are totally different, i still thoroughly enjoyed both of them.

I really liked it too.

No you aren't. I liked this movie a lot, even if it does change the ending quite a bit from the book. I thought Gary Oldman was wonderful!

I can't say I "liked" this movie, but I thought Gary Oldman was awesome. Basically, I enjoyed it whenever he was onscreen.

I liked the movie, too.

I loved every ounce of that movie and the principal of the plot. I know that if I was born in the 1600's I would have been hung due to my mouth. Gary Oldman is an awesome actor and I appreciate his quality of talent. It is nice to see real acting in a movie and really believe he is a Pastor. Of course Demi was awesome too. I do not like the sound of her voice, It makes me want to clear my throat, but she is beautiful and a talented lady.

Yes, I loved this movie too!!
Especially when he first tells her that he loves her.
*sigh* I have watched that part over and over (and over)
